How do I get a minor in Women's Studies?

To sign up to be a Women's Studies major, pick up a Program of Study Petition at either the Women's Studies Office at 524 Holmes or the College of Arts and Sciences office at 1 Meserve. Fill out the top portion and bring it to the Women's Studies Office at 524 Holmes to be signed and approved. The form then needs to be returned to the College of Arts and Sciences at 1 Meserve.

To fulfill the requirements for the Women's Studies minor, students must take either Introduction to Women's Studies (INT U103) or Feminist Perspectives on Society (SOC U402). In conjunction with this, students must also complete four Women's Studies elective courses. A list of these may be found on the Undergraduates section of this site.


How do I get a graduate certificate in Women's Studies?

Any student with a bachelor's degree who has been admitted to or is currently enrolled in a graduate program at Northeastern is eligible to apply for a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies. Applicants should have at least a "B" in their graduate course work (or undergraduate work for entering students).

To sign up for your graduate certificate in Women's Studies, pick up a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies Clearance Form at 524 Meserve. Fill out the form, attach a copy of your Northeastern transcript (may be unoffical transcript available on myNEU), and submit it to the Women's Studies Office at 524 Holmes for approval.

To fulfill the requirements for the graduate certificate in Women's Studies, students must take either Feminist Theory (SOC G102) or Feminist Methodologies (SOC G212). With this, students must also complete three approved Women's Studies electives. An incomplete list of these is available on our Graduates page, along with a full list of the approved Women's Studies courses for the upcoming semesters.

Where is the Women's Studies Office and when is it open?

The Women's Studies Office is located at 524 Holmes.

During the fall and spring semesters, our office hours are Monday through Friday 8:30a-4:30p. During the summer semesters, our office hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00a-5:00p.
